Made from 100% Cortese grape, this wine is produced by one of the most historic estates in the Piedmont region of Italy. La Scolca, founded in 1919, is the first producer of quality Gavi. 50 hectares of vineyards are planted on the picturesque hills surrounding the family villa in the Rovereto Superiore region of the commune of Gavi, the "Grand Cru" terroir for Cortese grape. The Estate is run by the founder's great grandson, Giorgio Soldati, and his daughter Chiara, the fifth generation to lead.
Having the oldest vines (60 years +) in Piedmont and decades of family tradition & pioneering, La Scolca is recognized for making some of the most concentrated and complex wines. This La Scolca 'White Label' Gavi is an affordable everyday drinking wine made from younger vines, it also offers an enjoyable richness and complex flavors. The wine has a soft pale yellow color with flavors of lemon zest, blanched almonds, hint of flint and stone fruits. A refreshing wine with a lively mineral character and a delicious lasting finish. Pair with salads, light pasta dishes and fish dishes. This 2014 vintage marks their 95th Harvest.
Gavi wines have been produced in the region for many centuries and must be made in the Province of Alesandria
