A quick continuation of my post the other day. At the Jenny and Francois tasting there were two other outstanding producers.

There was the Romaneaux-Destezet from winemaker Herve Souhaut, who makes some amazing St.Joseph wines; 100 year old vines, no additives, organic vineyard practices. This wine was amazing; clean syrah fruit, with notes of bacon and graphite as well as the nice dark berries that you get from the best of this AOC.

Finally, there were the wines from Loup Blanc in Minervois. The wines are pretty amazing; completely natural practices with impressive results. They brought a very nice interesting dessert wine - a 100% grenache "late" harvest from the very, very warm and dry 2003 vintage. This wine had extremely high alchohol and quite a bit of sugar, but is still in balance and delicious. The amazing part is the fact that they did nothing more then harvest it quite late and alow it to vinify until it wanted to stop! Almost port like Grenache - very cool.
