Here are some of my favorite wines we carry at 67 wines. The tasting notes were taken from my Cellar Tracker notes. I recommend Cellar Tracker for all of you out there who want to be able to remember what you've tried, and to get a wide range of opinions of wines you may like to try. It's a donation site, and quite functional even if you choose not to donate. Cheers, Stacey Rosenberger stacey@67wine.com
  • 2003 Finon St. Joseph Les Rocailles - France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, St. Joseph (3/21/2008) good concentration. not overweight but flavorful. bright acidity with some earthy, piney, and meaty notes. no sourness, nor softness. caution, throws a good amount of sediment. great value. (90 pts.)
  • 2006 Jean-Paul Mollet Pouilly-Fumé L'Antique - France, Loire Valley, Upper Loire, Pouilly-Fumé (3/14/2008) almost all mineral. with chalky, flinty, smokiness all around. delicious, refreshing, structured. it struck me right off, and continued to impress. finish keeps giving despite all the soil qualities, a testament to great mouthwatering acidity that doesn't sear the tastebuds off. (91 pts.)
  • 2004 Castell-Reynoard Bandol - France, Provence, Bandol (2/25/2008) gorgeous. rich, dark, full bodied with perfect silky tannins. meaty, earthy, no compromise, but not overwhelming. long finish. (91 pts.)
  • 2005 Château Fontanes Vin de Pays d'Oc Les Traverses de Fontanes - France, Languedoc Roussillon, Vin de Pays d'Oc (2/23/2008) light wthout being weak. soft without being structureless. fruity without sweetness. (88 pts.)
  • 2005 Château Gaillard Touraine-Mesland - France, Loire Valley, Touraine, Touraine-Mesland (2/3/2008) very light. nice, smooth. nose is reticent. ripe and crisp at same time. good herbal? notes. (86 pts.)
  • 2002 Château Montus Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh Sec - France, Southwest France, Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh Sec (1/30/2008) orangygolden color with green tints, very richly colored. tangy and honeyed at the same time. good long finish, with some stoniness and good acidity. (87 pts.)
  • 2005 Domaine des Geneves Chablis 1er Cru Vaucoupin - France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru (1/19/2008) nose of light vanilla oak, not too toasty. green comice pear in nose and mouth . creamy, buttery with a mouth coating citrus oil feature washed away by refreshing citrus zest bitterness (very subtle) acidity. finishes from the zest on a honeyed note with pear skin. a bit fat for the region, slightly thin down the sides, but this 1er cru Chablis at this price is a great value. (87 pts.)
  • N.V. Michel Rocourt Champagne Brut Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Grand Vintage Le Mesnil-sur-Oger - France, Champagne (10/31/2007) great value. worth the extra dollar for the grand cru. honey and toffee nut and toasty, cut by refreshing creamy citrus. good mouth feel, with bubbles dancing with structure. finish medium, ends on a bright full note. (90 pts.)
  • N.V. Comte de Lantage Champagne Brut - France, Champagne (7/11/2007) multi sized bubbles. ripe yeast on nose. full bodied. finish is baked apple and citrus. excellent value. (92 pts.)
  • 1989 Château Talbot - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien (5/13/2007) chocolate cherry color with almost black rim. decanted and filtered, but still contained a great deal of sediment. tannins were very well integrated though. dinner was lamb kebobs. great match. fruit was bright and strong, dark berries and cherry. peppery and slightly fresh earth. graphite on the finish. very long finish. decanted for 1 hour. with the way the tannins have fallen, i'm glad we drank now. great balance. (93 pts.)
